1. While I was walking in the woods I saw a fallow deer
Her coat is soft her eyes are bright and beautifully clear
If I could see between the leaves her kind and gentle face
If I could look into her eyes a soft and warm embrace

A flicker in the trees

2. Her coat is chestnut in the sun and dappled in the breeze
Her legs are fine and fit to run and carry her with ease
With ears so sharp and nose so keen she's ready to take flight

3. Light and shadow, movement in the trees
Hidden in stillness, waiting until dawn
And in a hollow wrapped in roots a fallow deer is born
